History of Urban Larder

small cowcalf stamp2URBAN LARDER opened its doors in Hope Street Yard on the 31st October 2009 – Halloween! Urban Larder brings locally sourced food from farms, orchards, kitchens and homes in the surrounding countryside to the heart of Mill Road.

After much research we found that people in the area wanted to support local farmers and producers and buy local produce; so we have been out and about, but not too far, and sourced some of the finest products from outside the city to bring to your home. We now provide the community with a great selection of  free-range, homemade and sustainable food choices and become a regular part of your weekly shop.

After a year of trading in Hope Street Yard, an opportunity to move to larger premises came up in a more prominent position on Mill Road’s Broadway. Almost to the day (Halloween) the Urban Larder relocated to number 9 The Broadway! An open looking shop with more room to stock wider ranges, introduce a seating area so that people can sit and try some of the goodies on site.

We still stock an extensive range of relishes, chutneys, mustards, oils, cereals, flours, bread, cakes, chocolate, teas, drinks and cordials, local honey, an extensive range of gluten free, some vegan, meats, cheese, apple juice, jams, marmalades, ice cream, cheesecakes, pies, ready meals, strudels and wellingtons and lots more………..
